Are you breaking your own heart?

Because of today’s fast paced lifestyle, most of us are too busy trying to achieve one goal after the other and in this rat race we forget to take a moment out for our health. Particularly, heart health. Be honest, when was the last time you actually thought about the organ that pumps blood throughout your body? Was it after your last breakup when you thought you wouldn’t be able to get over the pain?

Breakups are painful yes. But you know what’s even more painful? HEART ATTACKS. It’s no joke fellas. In 2013 WHO estimated that around 31% of all deaths in Pakistan were due to cardiovascular diseases. Cardiovascular diseases or CDVs for short are caused when you have an unhealthy lifestyle or have history of the disease in your family. Obesity, high blood pressure, high glucose and cholesterol are some risk factors that could contribute to heart disease. Do you know why I know all this? Because of the brilliant and timely initiative #ProjectDKL or “Project Dil kay Liye” by Tabba Heart Institute to create awareness on heart healthcare this World Heart Day.

As a part of the project, Tabba Heart Institute conducted an activity at LuckyOne Mall from 22nd to 24th September 2017 and also did an online awareness campaign with the help of a handful of bloggers (me being one of them duh) (Is duh still a thing? Curse you Gen Z and your hip new vocab, I feel so old). During the activation of #ProjectDKL at LuckyOne Mall, thousands of people were engaged in healthy activities and games. People were given several giveaways on answering a health-related quiz and playing healthy games.

Globally, over 17.5 million people die every year due to heart diseases. We get so freaked out by epidemic outbreaks and yet it’s ironic that no one actually takes these major preventable diseases seriously.

World Heart Day is celebrated on 29th of September all over the world to inform people around the globe that heart disease and stroke are the world’s leading cause of death.

#ProjectDKL serves as a platform to create awareness about heart diseases encouraging people to focus on their heart’s well-being and keep it healthy and happy.

Project DKL is a way of life, it aims to create a healthy environment, encouraging people to switch to a healthier lifestyle through exercising,  eating healthy, quitting smoking & getting regular medical check ups done. Being a fitness newbie myself, I would suggest that if you are interested in improving your health, take baby steps. Start with a 15 minute daily walk at any time of day and slowly incorporate longer and more complicated exercises to your routine according to your own pace. Similarly, make healthier choices while eating. Skip that fizzy drink, get water instead. Switch the mashed potatoes with a side of grilled veggies with your steak. Have a fruit salad for dessert.

The hashtag #ProjectDKL was one of the top Twitter trends on Saturday, 23rd September 2013 with Twitteratis, Journalists and even nutritionists like Saddaf Fayyaz sharing positive tweets on the hashtag. You can also join in the conversation on the hashtag if you want to help raise awareness about heart health.

Tabba Heart Institute is one of the best and most comprehensive cardiology services providing institute in Pakistan, recognized by American College of Cardiovascular Diseases for its efforts and contribution. You can check out the great work Tabba Heart Institute is doing on Facebook and their Website.

Don’t forget to keep your heart healthy and remind others of why today is so important.

The huge battery means that Mi Max 2 can even charge other smartphones connected to its USB Type-C port. What this Pakistani Bride did on her Wedding Night will Shock You

A wedding day has to be one of the most important days of a person’s life. It’s exciting, exhilarating, exhausting and most of all, nerve wracking. After all, it’s the start of a new life with a new person in a new home! Everything changes after shaadi, which is why, this blushing bride chose to do something that shocked everyone!

Munawal Javed and her newly wed husband love McDonald’s and that’s why as soon as they were done with their nikkah ceremony, they headed over to McDonald’s for some delicious ice cream to celebrate!

The wedding party, including the beautiful bride herself were decked up in their wedding dresses which made the incident even more amusing!

Even the folks over at McDonald’s Pakistan were pretty excited that this happened. Anyways I’m super happy that girls these days are breaking the ‘sharmeeli dulhan’ stereotype and I wish Munawal and her husband best of luck for their new life. May they stay happy and keep enjoying their McDonald’s! 😂🍔🍟🍦

Did you or do you plan to do something like this on your wedding day? Let me know in the comments!

Triggered Online Feminists

Why are you so mad? Don’t you realize?

This is just a comment, a tweet, a post.

The only trigger in real life;

Is the acid meant to melt away your face

The punch that lands on your arm during a domestic squabble

The book replaced with a child’s cradle

The degree on your shelf from which you sweep away cobwebs

And what you feel walking down the street

The cold trickle of dread

That you might make it to late night news.

So relax, online feminist.

It’s just a joke.

It’s not like it can happen in real life anytime soon.

Don’t wear that, you look like an aunty

Aunty- like it’s a bad thing, growing old

Outdated. Old. Undesirable.

Like the stretchmarks on her body and the wrinkles on her face are an insult

Her silver hair, pleated in a braid

Each strand screaming wisdom and courage and beauty

Each wrinkle etched with the battles she has faced

And survived.

So please, go ahead.

Call me an aunty,

But only do it when you mean it as a compliment.

These keyboard feminists are a nuisance

Why don’t you do anything in real life?

Why don’t you speak up for what’s right?

Why don’t you help women who need it most

Instead of tweeting and posting and posing and blocking

Surely this isn’t the only

safe space

You have in your life.

Surely you have not been asked to shut up

And shut down and shit on

For asking your own family

For your rights.

Packed away, like a commodity.

SOLD!

To the highest bidder.

Before it’s too late.

Before you are free

Before they see you come home after 8 PM

Before you realize you are not incomplete

Before you start speaking up for what you want and not what you should

And before your words seep into your soul and you are no longer clay to be molded

Before you start thinking it’s safe to say the words out loud that you used to type online.

With the launch of Redmi 4X, Xiaomi demonstrates its commitment to the market
One of the world’s leading technology company Xiaomi launches Redmi 4X in Pakistan on Saturday through distribution partner SmartLink Technology. The launch event took place in Lahore on Friday and was hosted by none other than the witty Taimur Salahuddin AKA Mooroo.
Audiences were provided double dose of entertainment with the hilarious jokes of Mooroo and scintillating performances by Pakistan’s leading band Noori and Nescafe Basement band with Altamash Sarver who made audiences dance to their favourite tracks. The stunning Mira Sethi also made a special guest appearance who was all praises for the newly launched Smartphone, equipped with the latest technology in an affordable price.
Smartlink Technologies Marketing Director Ahmed Butt was quoted as saying, “Majority of the Pakistani consumers prefer to purchase smartphones remaining in this price bracket and thus this bracket has always remained a key market for all brands. We have confidence that Redmi 4X will be a hit within its own price bracket, as the smartphone surely outperforms its competition in the market.”

Redmi 4X features a full metal body, is the slimmest in design at just 8.65mm of thickness and weighs a mere 150g. Get Baby Soft Skin with 3 Ingredients from your Kitchen Cabinet

I took this off a tumblr post but can’t find it anymore so rewriting.

1. Mix one part oil with two parts sugar. It can be any oil, I used coconut. You can even use canola oil. Add few drops of vanilla essence for scent (optional).

2. Take a bubble bath or a really nice long shower if you don’t have a bathtub.

3. Shave your legs, arms and any other areas of your body that you want. If you like waxing, do that before the bubble bath.

4. Get out of the shower and scrub yourself with the sugar scrub.

5. Use a disposable razor to shave after using the scrub. This is not to remove hair but the dead skin that you have just scrubbed off in step 4. It will look grey and quite disgusting tbh.

6. Wash yourself with your favourite shower gel to get the oil off and pat dry.

FEEL LIKE A DAMN GODDESS.

7 Reasons why you should add Oats to your Breakfast

We have all heard this at least once in our lives;
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
And yet, when it comes to this meal, most of us are hasty and careless or right out skip it. It’s understandable since mornings are the busiest time of the day and we are just looking for a quick kick of energy that we can get from a simple cup of coffee. So why bother right? Wrong. What we eat for breakfast fuels our entire day and even helps in controlling unnecessary hunger pangs and over eating.
Your standard breakfast should be quick, delicious and nutritious. You should consume a fruit, some dairy products, protein (egg is great!) and a good source of fiber. Here are 7 reasons why you should choose Oats instead of the regular bread options for your breakfast:
1. Oats are loaded with Dietary Fiber
Oats are rich in a specific type of fiber called beta-glucan. This particular type of fiber is known to help lower levels of bad cholesterol.

When it comes to breakfast, no one knows better how to provide a nourishing good start to the day than Quaker. This winter when oatmeal season is in full swing, the world-renowned and beloved brand Quaker made its official launch in Pakistan.
Oats are a nutrition powerhouse; a rich source of dietary fiber, a good source of plant-based protein and it helps to reduce cholesterol in your body. With these many healthy benefits and more, Quaker Oats doesn’t compromise on taste!
To showcase the delicious and versatile nature of oats, Quaker hosted a brunch at Cosa Nostra Lahore which included a buffet of scrumptious breakfast and brunch foods incorporating oats. The who’s who of the town were there to taste all the smoothies, pancakes, granolas and salads. The admired Chef Mehmood showcased five-star recipes featuring Oats: Oatfully good omelette, Oat Quesadillas and Oat crumbed fish. You can check the recipes on Quaker Pakistan (@QuakerPK) Facebook Live videos. Bellies satisfied with the tasteful food, the attendees had similar parting comments: it was a wonderful and #OatsomeBrunch.
